Art Clay Silver Lite

The makers of Art Clay, Aida Chemicals have just launched Art Clay Silver Lite. This is 93% fine silver when fired, 82% in the clay state. It is mixed with glass to make it lighter. This also means it is slightly weaker than Art Clay Silver 650.

A piece created in Art Clay Silver Lite will be 40% lighter than a comparable sized piece made in Art Clay Silver.

It's particularly good for thicker pieces as it is lighter but it's not recommended for rings as they cannot be used with a mallet so cannot be resized.

Shrinkage - 10%

Firing

Art Clay Silver Lite can be fired at 750C/1382F for 10 minutes. It cannot be fired with a torch or gas stove, it requires a kiln.
